I spend much of my time as a designer working within frameworks and systems.

They allow me to reach understanding and insights that in turn mean I can deliver outcomes and  solutions to wonderful problems.

I like these systems.

They offer comfort. Familiarity.

Making marks on the other hand is about embracing the unknown, it’s not about outcome or end, it’s about the moment, exploring, responding, tangents, accidents. It’s the joy of doing.

Strangely, this makes me a little uncomfortable.

And this is a good place to be.
